Full Fat - Protects against obesity

The seemingly counterintuitive notion that full-fat dairy products actually prevent obesity has received a boost from  a Swedish study.
The study is not conclusive proof that full-fat milk can protect against obesity, but at least goes some way to disproving any possible benefit in using low-fat dairy products.

Despite the obvious benefits of Vitamin A and D, plus better absorption of calcium, researchers speculate that conjugated linoleic acid is the factor that helps people control their weight.
Conjugated linoleic acid is a peculiar fatty acid with a trans bond and and one cis (normal) unsaturated bond. It could be said to be a half-trans fat! The body can also synthesize it from trans-vaccenic acid, the most common natural trans-fat in ruminant animal fats.
Conjugated Linoleic acid is also thought to help in fighting and preventing cancer.

Sadly, some nutritionists still warn us not to change back to full fat milk, because of the artery-clogging saturated fats!

Needless to say, having a good waistline is one of the safest protections against heart-disease known, apart from being a non smoker and non-diabetic!
